Cyberpunk respirator is both a culture that seeks rebellion against the corporate system and a genre within science fiction. Although it may mean different things to different people, there is certainly a common thread. The same word cyberpunk respirator face mask points in two directions. On the one hand, it refers to cybernetics, science, and technology. And on the other hand, we have punk, which has as its philosophy the rebellion against the system, against the established. Where the system seeks to make everything orderly, cyberpunk creates chaos through technology. Thus, it would take to the highest level the phrase that says that "the street will find its own use for things".
The protagonists in cyberpunk tend to be outsiders, anti-heroes, outcasts, criminals, visionaries, dissidents, or misfits. In fact, the cyberpunk genre itself subverted science fiction. To understand the movement we must look beyond black and white, to see the contemporary world in its true shades of gray. We live in a world where the natural, the organic, the real, is blurred with the artificial, the mechanical, and the virtual.
